Lunch Time at Uplands Junior L.E.A.D Academy

Our School Meals

All meals are freshly prepared on site and there is a choice of main courses and puddings. Our school meals are healthy and balanced and comply with the governments nutritional standards. All meals are vegetarian with the exception of fish dishes.

Children really enjoy the school dinners at Uplands Junior school, with Friday meals being very popular with the children.

School meals are £1.75 per day or £8.75 per week. We are happy to accept payment for the week, month, half term or term. Cheques (made payable to Leicester City Council) or cash should be placed in a sealed envelope clearly marked with the child’s name and class and handed into the class teacher or at the School OfficeMany children are entitled to free school meals, for more information please visit the Leicester City Council  website or click the link below to download the free meal application form.

Some parents like to choose a mix of school dinners and packed lunch for their child – that’s absolutely fine, as long as it’s a the same pattern of school dinners and packed lunches every week.  Just let office staff and your child's class teacher know which days you’d like to opt in for a school meal in the week, and which days you’d prefer to provide your child with a packed lunch.

Free School Meals

Free school meals are available to some children according to the family income.  It’s important to register for entitlement to free school meals, even if your child has a packed lunch – this is so we can receive additional funding called the pupil premium which we can use to help your child.

For more information please visit the Leicester City Council  website or click the link below to download the free meal application form.

Packed Lunches

Children may bring a packed lunch.  This should be in a secure container.  A drink should be provided in a non breakable container.  Packed lunches are eaten in the main hall.  No sweets or fizzy drinks are allowed – instead, we encourage lots of fruit, vegetables and water.
